Manufacturing Mask for Supersonic Car

Camberley Rubber Mouldings (CRM) is delighted to announce that it will be manufacturing the crucial Oxygen Breathing Mask and its associated components for the Bloodhound land speed record supersonic car. Camberley Rubber Mouldings (CRM) is delighted to announce that it will be manufacturing the crucial Oxygen Breathing Mask and its associated components for the Bloodhound Project – a three year mission to create a land speed record car capable of travelling at 1,000mph.

The Bloodhound SSC (Super Sonic Car) will be driven by Wing Commander Andy Green MBE MA RAF. During the record attempt, Andy will be wearing an oxygen mask moulded by our expert team at our facility in Aldershot, Hampshire, UK. The system will be produced using a combination of rubber moulding manufacturing techniques, including injection moulding.

The record attempt will see the car travelling at upwards of 1,000mph. The wheels will be turning at approximately 10,000rpm over a 17 mile desert track at the Hakskeen Pan in South Africa. It is anticipated that the car will reach its target speed in just 55 seconds. This will mean driver Andy will be covering a distance of 4½ football pitches every second, faster than a bullet fired from a Magnum 357!

John Height, Sales Director at CRM commented:

Being chosen to take part in such a high profile project only further demonstrates our unique abilities at Camberley Rubber Mouldings and reinforces our position as one of the world’s leading rubber manufacturing companies.”
